Matt Avery, 24, of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010. Matt was a nine-year cancer survivor. He graduated Cum Laude from ASU with a B.S. in Psychology.

He was preceded in death by his uncles, Gary Avery, Bruce Avery and Tony Avery; his grandfather, Donald Avery; grandmother, Hope Allison, and his great-grandmother, Edith Allen.

Matt is survived by his father and step-mother, Barry and Darlene Avery of Jonesboro; his mother, Debbie Allison Clark of Marmaduke; grandparents, Don and Alyene Hicks of Bay, Wayne and Tik Ward of Forrest City and Beverly Allen of Jonesboro; his great-grandfather, Harold Allen of Trumann; cousins, Bridget Avery, Jason Avery, Shane Avery, Derrick Avery, Kaylee Calvin and several others; uncle and aunt, Dilok and May Phanchantraurai of Ankeny, Iowa; a great-aunt, Gail Brooks of Trumann, and many other loved ones.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Chapel services will be today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Tim Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Pallbearers will include Shane Avery, Michael Nix, Jason Avery, Brannon Mink, Corey Hutchison and Dustin Timmons. Honorary pallbearers will include Jeremy Vestal, Derrick Avery, Wayne Ward, Harold Allen, Dilok Phanchantraurai, Don Hicks and Harold Avery.
