JP Jeffress dies at 54

Longtime Justice of the Peace James Dudley "Tadpole" Jeffress, 54, of Greenway, who had served 23 years as a member of the Clay County Quorum Court, died Monday, Nov. 16.

Also a former mayor of Greenway, Jeffress worked for Veal Oil Company for 19 years and farmed most of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piggott. He also served on the Mitchell Cemetery Association board and was a member of the Greenway Fire Department.

Visitation will be at 6 tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 18) at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in Hoggard and Sons chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
