Rector cruised to a 10-0 start in the twinbill behind a strong outing from freshman Amanda Bradford. Bradford was unflappable despite being one of the youngest players in the league, giving up no runs on just three hits while striking out five and walking two in five innings of work.
"She's a solid pitcher," coach Bob Alberson said. "She knows what she's doing out there. She's not going to make many mistakes. To just watch out there, you can't tell she's a freshman."
Bradford also stood out at the plate, going 2-2 with four RBIs. Also hitting for Rector were Bethany Sisneros 2-2 with an RBI, Stephanie DeMent 2-3 with an RBI; Rebecca Dodd 2-3 with an RBI; Brittany Sharp 1-3 with two RBIs and Rhoda Classen 1-2.
The Lady Cougars also claimed the latter half of the dual games, winning 6-4.
Bradford got the win again, allowing four runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Sisneros went 3-3 with an RBI in the second game. Also hitting were Sharp 2-2 with an RBI; Bradford 2-3 with an RBI; Hillary Calhoun 1-2; Classen 1-2; Kristie Hardin 1-2 and Harmony Cagle 1-2.
The Lady Cougars were slated to host Riverside Tuesday. Rector is set to visit Marmaduke at 4 p.m. Thursday and BIC at 4 p.m. Friday.
