Bethlehem Sky

By Maynard Lee Sisler

The miracle of virgin birth that day

Has given humankind the hope we need

For life lived well, with joy along the way

And purpose found so well in word and deed.

The newborn babe saw the Bethlehem sky

And took His nap in a borrowed manger

Adoring mother chanted lullaby

A day unique -- an evening yet stranger.

A brilliant star hung low enough to touch

Heaven's host sang greeting to Messiah,

Journey's end for wise men from the East.

Shepherds thought an archangel's voice was much

But who had ever heard an angel choir?

Can't we, like them, enjoy our Christmas feast?

Look For a Wise Man

By Maynard Lee Sisler

If you can find one, follow a wise man--

Searching under a star to find a King

Bring along myrrh and frankincense and gold

Or nothing but a heart that knows it can

Chime with any Heavenly host to sing

Our Savior's mission to us, young and old.

You'll discover there with you, others too

Under Bethlehem's Star up there for you!

Another swing around that very star

Brings Christmastide to celebrate once more.

Whatever we see, wherever we are

Let's show Him thanks for opening the door.

(And while we're honoring His blessed mother,

Why not share that love with one another?)
