The Importance of Veterans

Thursday, November 12, 2009
We asked Rector residents how veterans have impacted their lives. Many people in town have veterans in their family, adding an even greater emotional connection to those who have served America bravely.

"It's important that we remember to honor all our veterans who served our country, kept us safe, and protected our freedom. My dad and father-in-law both served in World War II and were proud to be of service to their country."

"I have a daughter and three sons who were veterans. I'm proud of them. It's helped them in their lives. Everybody should remember veterans and show them the respect they've earned."

"I'm a veteran. My daddy was a veteran. I have two brothers and a lot of friends who were veterans. There are veterans all over this town. We're fortunate to have some very brave men who have come frome here."

"My husband, Scott, is a Navy veteran, who served in Desert Storm. My dad was a World War I vet. My brother served in the Army for 20 years. Some of the most important people in my life were veterans, so I know how important they are to our country. Without them, we wouldn't have the freedoms we have."
