Rector residents now have a new option for their style needs. Barbara Weaver recently opened Classy Cuts salon at 701B Main Street. The salon is a part of the building which houses Weaver's Transmission, owned by Weaver's husband, Buz.

Weaver says visitors to Classy Cuts have a wide range of beauty treatments from which to choose. Her shop offers cuts, hair color, perms, manicures, pedicures and nail coloring.

"I do just about everything you can think of," Weaver said. "I wanted to bring the feel of a larger salon to Rector."

Classy Cuts opened for business Tuesday, Sept. 30. Since that time, Weaver says the initial response has been very good.

"I was really busy last week," Weaver said. "It was a great first week."

Weaver says she's not done with adding to her salon. She plans to add two tanning beds in the spring. There are two enclosed rooms built into the shop to house the tanning equipment.

The entire shop was remodeled to house the salon. The work was handled by Scott Construction. Their efforts paid off, as the previously unused portion of the building now has been transformed into a bright, new, fully-functioning beauty shop.

"Watching the shop being built was wonderful," Weaver said. "The change was incredible. The guys at Scott Construction did an outstanding job."

Weaver says her shop not only meets the everyday needs of her clients, but also handles special occasions. She did two hairstyles for last week's homecoming.

Weaver is a graduate of the Arkansas Academy of Hair Design in Paragould. Opening her own salon is the fulfillment of a dream.

"I've been interested in this for a long time. We had our other business, so it was hard to find the time to go to school. I just stuck with it and found a way to make the time. Now I'm able to do something I've always wanted."

Weaver says her shop caters to the needs of both women and men. While appointments may be made, walk-ins also are welcome.

Classy Cuts is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Barbara and Buz have owned and operated Weaver's Transmission for 16 years. The shop came to Rector about a year ago. The weavers have two daughters, Miranda, a senior at Rector High School, and Melissa, a freshman at RHS. The Weavers have lived in Rector for the last six years.

"Rector has been very good to us," Weaver said. "We're happy to call this town our home."
