Investigation continues in Marmaduke child's death

Thursday, July 10, 2008
An investigation is still ongoing in the death of a Marmaduke infant.

The body of one-year-old Ethan Ray Roberts was sent Monday, June 30, to the Arkansas Crime Lab in Little Rock where an autopsy was performed. According to Lieutenant Shane Martin of the Marmaduke Police Department, officials still are awaiting test results to assist their investigation.

The child's body was found on the morning of Saturday, June 28. Sergeant Scott Chambers of the MPS was called by a neighbor to the home at 103 North Fifth Street. Chambers found the young boy already deceased. Emergency personnel, as well as Dick Pace, Greene County coroner, were called to the scene. Chambers said he "could tell the child had been deceased for a while" upon investigation. His mother, 36-year-old Kelly Honeycutt, confirmed this, stating the boy had drowned 24 hours prior.

The exact circumstances of the death are as yet unknown.
