Rev. George Kelly Jr., 90, of Jonesboro died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at an area hospital. A native of Pennsylvania, Rev. Kelly lived many years at Rector, where he was pastor of Wesleyan Evangelical Methodist Church at Hargrave Corner for 20 years. In addition to Rector, he served as pastor of churches in Pennsylvania and Missouri. He recently moved to Jonesboro after over 20 years in Huntsville, Ala., where he was a member of Calvary Bible Church.

Rev. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Kelly; brothers, Merle and Paul, and one sister, Betty.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bernice Rhodes Kelly of Jonesboro; sons, Darryl Kelly of Bono and George R. Kelly of Nixa, Mo.; daughters, Connie Seay and Bonnie Beal of Jonesboro and Esther Wagner of Lees Summit, Mo.; one brother, Arthur Kelly of New Derry, Pa.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Wesleyan Evangelical Methodist Church at Hargrave Corner with Reverends Darryl Kelly, Fred Barker, Doug Farris and Paul Seay officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jonathan Wagner, Shane Mason, Jim Kelly, Darryl Jan Kelly, Chris Scarbrough and James Elliott.

Lasting memorials may be made to Wesleyan Evangelical Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
