Foreman, Dierks win at Rector

The Foreman Lady Gators and the Dierks Lady Outlaws will meet in the Class 2A Softball Championship on Saturday at Fayetteville after winning semifinal games Monday afternoon at Rector.

The weather was ideal for the two semifinal matchups at Jeremy McDaniel Memorial Sports Complex in the first-ever AAA-sanctioned state tournament in Rector.

Foreman stopped Junction City, 8-4, and Dierks downed Parkers Chapel, 5-3, to advance to the title game at Lady Back Yard on the campus of the University of

Arkansas.

Sixteen teams journeyed to Rector for the tournament, with the four South Region teams all advancing to the semifinal round.

Tournament director for the event was Mark Manchester. Numerous volunteers stepped up to make the tournament a succcess.
