Monday, May 12, 2008
The Marmaduke Greyhounds are one win away from a trip to the state Class 3A baseball championship game.

The Hounds face Lincoln at 4 today at Harding University in Searcy for the right to move on to the title game at 12:30 Saturday at Baum Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Marmaduke defeated Pea Ridge, 3-2, in eight innings Friday and then pounded Mayflower, 18-2, in Saturday action to reach the semifinals. Trent Smith will be on the mound today for the Hounds.

Another area team, Corning, also has reached the semifinals and will face Harding Academy at 6:30. Corning defeated Horatio and Shiloh Christian to reach the semifinals.

Complete details on the Marmaduke post-season run may be found in this week's print edition of the Clay County Democrat.
