He was born June 19, 1932, in Senath, Mo., and was a lifetime farmer in Greene County. He was a member of the Assemblies of God, where he always enjoyed attending.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sarah Storey Newman; a brother, Kenneth Newman; a sister, Brenda McEntyre; a son, Roger Dale Newman, and a cousin, Jack Griffin.
Other survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lois Newman; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and David Goebel, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kay Newman, and daughter-in-law, Lorene Newman, all of Paragould, and son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Collean Newman of Miami Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Donna Mullins and Gwen Ray of Paragould and Polly Holder of Tulare, Calif.; three other brothers, Don, Jim and Bill Newman, all of Paragould; two grandsons, Rodney and Bobby Newman; three granddaughters, Kimberly Holloway, Kelly Rhodes and Amy Klingensmith, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Rev. William Allen officiating. Burial was in Hosea Cemetery at Knobel.
Active pallbearers were Allen Griffin, Jason Miller, Trevor Newman, Tommy Newman Sr., Tony Newman and Bob Keeling.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Goebel, Tobey White, Al Keeling and Merl Griffin.
