William Orville "Mac" McCord

William Orville "Mac" McCord, 79, of O'Fallon, Mo., a native of Rector, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.

He was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Rector and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired member of United Auto Workers (UAW) Local #25 and was an avid fisherman and gardener.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly A. Laney.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Virginia Louise (Webb) McCord; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bryan Helbig; one son and daughter-in-law, William C. and Constance McCord; grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah Laney, Andrew, Alex and Rachel Helbig, and a brother-in-law, Doyne Webb of Rector.

Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home in St. Charles, Mo. Burial was in National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation or a charity of choice.
