Velus "Jack" Johnson, 100, died Saturday, Dec. 15.

He was born Dec. 17, 1906, in Clay County to the late Edward and Lily (nee) Dortch and was retired from the Terminal Railroad Association.

He also was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Beryl (nee Ward) Johnson.

He is survived by two sons, Gary and wife Cheryl Johnson, and Joe Johnson; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was a friend to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 19) at Chapel of Sunset Memorial Park in St. Louis.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
