Born March 29, 1939, to Noah and Rachel Clayton, he had retired from Uniroyal as a shift manager. He loved fishing and hunting with his family and spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Steven Clayton; his father, Noah Clayton; one brother, Bill Clayton, and one sister, Ellen Clayton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dortha Sue Clayton; two daughters and their husbands, Jacquoline and David Hatcher of Rector and Jerrian Coleen and Ryan Worcester of Lonoke; five grandsons and two granddaughters, Nick and Stefanie Hatcher, Alex Hatcher, Jacob, Tyler and Jordan Niederkorn and Ashley Worcester; his mother, Rachel Clayton of Marmaduke; four brothers, Darrell Clayton, Randy Clayton, George Clayton and David Clayton; six sisters, Barbara Carpenter, Linda Travis, Mary Raspberry, Kathey Wheat, Peggy Sutherland and Lesa Taylor, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Irby Funeral Home in Rector with Bro. Marston Carpenter officiating. Interment was at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
