Freeda Boyd

Freeda Boyd, 87, of Rector died Dec. 1, 2007, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at Paragould.

She was born March 20, 1920, in Boydsville, the daughter of the late Edgar and Bertha Gifford Walls.

She was united in marriage to Claude W. Boyd on May 16, 1936, The couple had four children. Her husband preceded her in death in 1980.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Allen; a great-grandson, Brady; two brothers, Vealus Walls and Oakley Walls, and sister, Vera Martin.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Boyd and wife Sandra of Rector, and Wendell Boyd and wife Sheila of Heflin, La.; two daughters, Betty Lamb and husband Joey of Rector, and Linda Qualls and husband Danny of Hot Springs; 11 grandchildren, Wesley, Corry, Cody, Lacy, Judy, Daniel, Zach, Brian, Debbie, Joe and Jerry Don; 22 great-grandchildren, Jessie, Blevin, Nicole, Laken, Clayton, Breanna, Makayla, Emma Rae, Brandon, Jasmine, Allen, Hannah, Katie, Natalie, Shelby, Blake, Joe, Jarred, Jennifer, Justin, Josh, and Addison; and four great-great-grandchildren, Cambry, Steven, Karter and Payton, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel, with Jack Bearden and Jerry Don Lamb officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Don Lamb, Justin Lamb, Brian Boyd, Roger Baxter, Cody Boyd and Corry Boyd. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
