George Shearer, 76, of Kennett, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Twin Rivers Medical Center in Kennett.

Mr. Shearer was born April 21, 1931, in Bald Knob to C.B. and Wilma McLester Shearer. He was married Dec. 22, 1956, to Betty Martin Shearer, who survives.

An Army veteran of the Korean war, he was employed as a medical technologist at Twin Rivers Medical Center. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, J.C. Shearer.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Shearer of Kennett; a son, Keith Shearer and his wife, Lana, of Qulin, Mo.; two daughters, Linda Bohnert of Kennett and Sandra DeMent and her husband, Stephen, of Rector; a brother, Ben Shearer and his wife, Fleda, of Wilburn; a sister, Maggie Jean Douglas and her husband, Bob, of Heber Springs, and five grandchildren, Alan Michael Shearer, Macie Shearer, Stephanie and Amy DeMent and Alex Bohnert.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Gene Lancaster and Rev. Chris Maynard officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
