A retired carpenter, he was of the Pentecostal faith. He was born April 14, 1919, in Shirley to the late Louis and Eve Anna King Carmickle and was married May 6, 1977, in Blytheville to Mary (Gage) Carmickle, who survives.
Other survivors include five daughters, Mamie Brielmaier of Edwardsburg, Mich., Ruthie Rogers of Leachville, Velma Wyatt of Memphis, Tenn., Rosie Hill of Wilburn and Margie Stephens; his poodle, Fido, whom he considered like a son; 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bertha Anderson.
Visitation will be at 12 noon Thursday, May 24, at Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. that day at Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Perry Vandergriff officiating. Burial will be in Finch Cemetery at Finch, Ark.
