He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Black Oak to the late Henry and Sadie Marie Ray.
Mr. Ray farmed in his early years and moved to Michigan in the 1940's. He worked as a freight manager and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Chalmus Ray of Michigan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Conley and Neva Ray of New Boston, Mich., Tommy and Patricia Ray of South Lion, Mich., and Stanley and Lois Ray of Melvindale, Mich., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at White Oak Church near Rector with Bro. Ronnie Stevens officiating. Burial was in Reddick Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Conley Ray, John Ray, Dalton Ray and Danny Dortch.
