She was born July 23, 1935, in Rector to the late George and Eva Johnson Mitchell. She also was preceded in death by the father of her children, James E. Burdin; two sons, Bobby James Burdin and Dallas George Burdin; two brothers, Otho Mitchell and Bobby Joe Mitchell, and one sister, Mary Frances Wells.

She was a homemaker and a member of Union Home General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Marion Merle Bracken of the home; two step-sons, Joe Bracken and Robert "Rusty" Bracken; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Kay and Beryl Brakebill of Damascus, Diann and Russell White of Rector and Shannon and Corbin Hill of Rector; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Shirley and Fred Edgeller of West Plains, Mo.; one brother, Junior Mitchell of Louisiana; three sisters, Annette Huckabay of Lafe, Alice Blocker of Kennett and Alberta Deshotel of Florida, six grandchildren, Tina, Missy, Shannon, Bruce, Ryan and Eddie Joe; five step-grandchildren, Joey, Lee, Sarah, Brandon and Jordan, 12 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Futrell Butler and Bro. David Winberry officiating. Interment will be in Purcell Cemetery near Rector.

Active pallbearers will be Bruce Brakebill, Eddie Joe Brakebill, Ryan White, Joey Wilburn, Larry Huckabay and Gary Huckabay. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bracken, Russell White, Beryl Gene Brakebill and Perry Deshotel.
