Emma Jo Vowell, 75, of Lafe, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born Aug. 7, 1931, in the Hopewell community to the late John Louis Wyatt and Rosa Mae (Elrod) Wyatt, she was a housewife and attended Rock Springs Church.

She was married to Lowell Byron Vowell on Aug. 25, 1945, in Jonesboro.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Wyatt and Cloyce Wyatt, and a sister, Pauline Dorris.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell Vowell; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Vowell of Rector, Dennis and Kathy Vowell of Paragould; Randy and Sandy Vowell of Rector and Byron and Marsha Vowell of Knob; one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Ronnie Banning of Marmaduke; one brother, Eugene Wyatt of Missouri; one sister, Freeda McClain of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Trella Rogers of Paragould, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Marston Carpenter and Kenneth Hargrave officiating. Burial was in Purcell Cemetery with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Denny Vowell, Todd Ford, Ray Hardee, Aaron Vowell, Nathan Sanders, Cody Vowell and Marcus Vowell. Honorary pallbearers were Brandy Ford, Amy Hardee, Zachary Vowell and Tyler Vowell.
