She was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Clay County to the late Riley Calvin Banks and Mary McDowell of Rector and went to school in Rector. She was a longtime resident of Alice, where she was manager of Sunset Terrace Apartments for many years. She loved people, gardening, playing bingo, going to casinos and traveling with her family.
She was active in her community and once served as an Alice ambassador. She will be most remembered for her spunky personality. Family members and friends say she was "one of a kind" and that she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Judy Banks Cato and Joyce Banks Mayfield, and her son, Mark Alan Lale.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Larry Lale, of the home, formerly of Kennett, Mo., her children, Keith (Tiphanie) Lale of Mesquite, Texas, Joey Lale of San Antonio, Texas, her only daughter Kim Lale of Alice, and grandchildren, Jacklyn Nicole Lale of Victoria, Texas, Amanda Courtney Lale of Mesquite, Drew Alan Robert Lale of Lagarto, Texas, Madison Paige Lale-Harless of Alice, and her new grandson Hunter Mark Lale-Harless of Alice.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Holmgreen Mortuary. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memorial Park in Alice.
