He was born July 15, 1933, in Greene County to the late W.F. Stewart and Floye Light Stewart. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Charles, and two sisters, Ovela Sheffield and Louise Nichols.
He was married Dec. 25, 1951, to JoAnn Jost. They had two children. He later was married to Alice K. Waggner.
In addition to his Rector relatives, other survivors include his wife, Alice K. Stewart; two children, Steve Stewart and wife, Cammie, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Jeanie Stewart of Chesterfield, Mo.; two stepsons, Terry Hawn and wife, Patty, and Randall Hawn and wife, Linda Hill; two grandchildren, Jason and Robyn Stewart; three step-grandchildren, Kerie Stewart, Adrienne Hawn and Melissa Hawn; another sister, Betty Jean Douglas of Columbia, Ill.; Pat Carpenter Craft, who was raised as a sister, and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, at Kutis South County Chapel in St. Louis. Burial was in Park Lawn Cemetery with Kutis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
