Joan (Mallet) Jenkins

Joan (Mallet) Jenkins, 63, of Paragould, died Sunday, July 30, 2006.

Born Oct. 17, 1942, she was a retired high school teacher and was active in the Center Hill Church of Christ. She taught 17 years at Rector, 16 years at Crowley's Ridge Academy and two years at West Memphis Christian School.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James Otis Mallet on Aug. 8, 1976, and Oma Utha (Wooten) Mallet on May 1, 1981.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Sam Jenkins; one son, Kerry Jenkins and wife, Dena, of Fort Smith; one daughter, Kelli Brinkley and husband, Micah, of Paragould; four grandchildren, Abbey and Adam Jenkins of Fort Smith and Landon and Lathan Brinkley of Paragould, and two sisters-in-law, Carol Dickinson and husband, Joe, of Paragould and Patty White of Greenway.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 2) at Center Hill Church of Christ with Jon Binkley, Art Smith, Dale Horn, Jearl Howard and Gerald Fears officiating.

Pallbearers were Mack Ramsey, Calvin Jones, Al Williams, Wayne Freer, Russell Wheeler and Arvil Hill. Honorary pallbearers were the Elders of the Center Hill Church of Christ, Carlton Bryson, Jearl Howard, Charles Long, Vernon Lacey and Alfred Rowe.

Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Crowley's Ridge Academy, Paragould Children's Homes and Families First Foundation.
