He was born Sept. 4, 1909, in Rector to the late Walter and Malisa Reynolds of the Huebner community.
He was married to Orine Smoot of Marmduke, with whom he had three children, Ed, Fay and Joyce. After his wife's death, he was married to Ruby Reynolds, who also preceded him in death, along with his son, Ed, and two brothers, Carl and Claude.
The Reynolds family moved in 1930 to California. Mr. Reynolds lived in Kern County for 70 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In the 1960's, he was a Kern County sheriff's officer as a guard at the Lerdo Industrial Farm. He also earned his GED and real estate license. He was last employed as a heavy equipment oiler and was a member of the American Legion and DAV. He was a longtime member of the Westside Church of Christ in Bakersfield.
Survivors include his daughters and their husbands, Fay and Ernie Alesso and Joyce and Kenny Dobbs; his step-children and their spouses, Barbara and LeRoy Pflugh, Jerry and Sandra Thompson and Melvin and Rosalie Thompson, 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, June 16, with interment at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park in Bakersfield.
