Anna June Simpkins Griffith

Anna June Simpkins Griffith, 85, of Rector, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at The Med in Memphis.

Born June 12, 1920, in Shirley, Ark., to the late W.J. and Delilah Simpkins, she was a homemaker, a seamstress and was of the Evangelical Methodist faith.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, G.L. "Chigger" Griffith; an infant son, Freddie Joe Griffith; one son, James R. "Dick" Griffith; one sister, Opaline Reed, and one brother, Tom Simpkins.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, J.H. and Emma Lou Griffith of Covington, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Angie Morris of Collierville, Tenn., and Dana Davis of Olive Branch, Miss.; two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Cole Davis; eight sisters, Ruby Bell of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Velma Trokey of St. Louis, Mo., Georgie Dehner of Farmington, Mo., Linda Roberds of Dothan, Ala., Jane Heize and Jo Masner of Jonesboro, Phyllis Mize of Batesville, Donna Trammel of Manila, and two brothers, Carmy Simpkins of Manila and Charles Simpkins of Atkins.

Funeral services were at 12 noon Monday, March 13, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.
