Doyle W. Cox

Doyle W. Cox, 94, of Rector died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Rector Healthcare.

Born Nov. 23, 1911, in Clay County to the late Loyd Cox and Oma Grogan, he was a truck driver/fleet carrier and a deacon at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

He was married to Mary Lee (Read) Cox, who died April 11, 2002.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Olan Leon Cox and Eldon Floyd (Peck) Cox; a half brother, Wendell Vaden, and two sisters, Gwendolyn Cox and Garnetta Hutcheson.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Dimple Read; special friends, Dwight, Shirley and Emilea Vangilder, and Mark, Michelle and Cole Thomas; his church family, and all his friends.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Dr. Adrian Parker officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Dwight Vangilder, Mark Thomas, Alvin Vangilder, Kirk Ford, James Lindsey and Ron McCreless. Honorary pallbearers were Buel Shelton, Bill Vangilder, James Vangilder, W.O. Layer, Howard Beaton and Donald Huckabay.
