Born Nov. 28, 1935, in Clay County to the late Lois Hubert Ellis and Ruthie Marie Dalton Smith, he worked in the maintenance department for the Sun Beam factory and was of the Baptist faith.
Also preceding him in death was his wife, Lois Ellis, on Dec. 23, 2002.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dr. Tony and Sandy Ellis of West Lake, Ohio, Timmy and Carol Ellis of Paragould and Todd Ellis of Kennett; one daughter, Tammy Lindsey of Kennett; two brothers, Carol Floyd Ellis of Sycamore, Ill., and Larry Charles Ellis of Subblette, Ill.; six sisters, Barbara Sue Easley and Mary Edwards of Paragould, Flora Pierce, June Forrester and Pam Shirley, all of Wynne, and Alma Landers of Scottsville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Brooke, Nicole, Taylor, Timothy, Drew, Britt, Mackenzie, Jon and Jacob, and two great-grandchildren, JaLisha and Jamie.
Funeral sersvices were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Rudy Ring officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Hand, Charlie Hand, Jeff Easley, Steve Remagen, Britt Wineland and Mark Pierce. Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Smothers, Jacob Humphrey, Jon Mitchell and Drew Brinkley.
