Mary Vernelia King, 93, of Rector died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Kennett Healthcare.

Born Aug. 1, 1912, in Owensboro, Ky., to the late George Wright and Josie (Travis) Wright, she was a grocery store clerk and bookkeeper and of the Baptist faith. She had been a member of the community for 86 years and was a volunteer at the Labor Day Picnic and at school. She was married to Morgan Cochran King in 1930.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan King, and one brother, Uhal Travis Wright.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Lura May Temerian and Linda Kay and Jim Waldron, all of Rector; one sister, Martine Eunice Cummins, and three grandchildren, Paula Temerian, Kelly Waldron and Lindsay Waldron.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ardell Polk officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Scott Kirklin, David Mosley, Phillip Gipson, David Hendrix, Lance Mabrey and Steve Ward.
