She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Conway to the late Sam and May Cagle. Her family moved to Rector in the early 1920's. She taught first through eighth grades at the Gun Pond School outside Rector in the early 1940's.
She married C.W. Moore in 1943, and they lived in Indiana and West Michigan until the early 1990's. She lived the next 13 years in Munford with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a founding member of Post 127 of the American Legion in Dorr, Mich., and former president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband were longtime members of the Byron Center United Methodist Church in Michigan. For the last 13 years she was a member of the Munford United Methodist Church.
She also was very involved with the Munford Homemakers Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Moore; three brothers, Roy, Lylburn and Billy, and three sisters, Ruth, Ruby and Daisy.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas and Trudi Moore of Surprise, Ariz., and Joel and Chris Moore of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Sandy and John Berry of Munford; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna and David Melton and Carol Casey; one brother, Darwin and Wilma Cagle of Rector, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Byron Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Doubblestein officiating. Burial was in Dorr Cemetery with Cook Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
