James Henry Seay

James Henry Seay, 90, of Rector died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at his home.

Born Dec. 1, 1914, in Walcott to the late R.C. and Lizzie Seay, he was raised and went to school in Black Oak. Clay County has been his home for 73 years.

He was a retired farmer. He farmed 69 years in the Mary Chapel's Community, first with his Dad and later with brother Pinkney. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Pinkney and Frank Seay, and three sisters, Nellie Heath and Maggie and Laura Seay.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Seay of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sarah and William Vangilder of Altheimer and Janie Cruce of Jonesboro; one granddaughter and husband, Mona and Tommy Hargis of Altheimer; two grandsons and wives, Keith and Patricia Vangilder of Bryant and Brandon and Jennifer Cruce of Fort Worth, Texas, and two grandsons, Matthew Vangilder and Miles Noland.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Lindell Bailey, Bro. Paul Seay and Bro. William Vangilder officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Dale Smith, Boyd Heath, Larry Smith, Bob Little, John Carter and Ralph Seay.

The family asks that memorials be given to the Rector Community Center, the American Cancer Society or to a fund which has been established at Liberty Bank for the purpose of purchasing a park bench to be put in Rector Memorial Park in his memory.
