Goldie I. Meriwether

Goldie I. Meriwether, 88, of Largo, Fla., a native of Rector, died Saturday, June 16, 2005, under the care of Hospice.

The daughter of the late Singelton and Norah Copeland, she was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Rector. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and five brothers, Marvin Copeland, Wilson Copeland, Bert Copeland, Sam Copeland and Oran Copeland.

She retired from AC Spark Plug in Flint, Mich., after 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Flint.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and JoAnn Meriwether of Largo, Fla., Lanny and Susie Meriwether of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Bruce and Joann Meriwether of Jacsboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Iva Beckley and Eulalia Brewer, both of Flint; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, 7110 Davison Rd., Flint, Mich.
