Mildred Spicer

Mildred Spicer, 89, of Piggott, formerly of Greenway, died Friday, June 17, 2005, in the Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.

She was born June 11, 1916, in Bay, the daughter of the late Herbert Ray and Leolia Stone Martin.

She was united in marriage to J.W. "Pete" Spicer on March 1, 1940. They had two sons. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1992.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Vowell.

She is survived by two sons, Howard Ray Spicer and wife, Glenda, of Piggott and Kenneth Spicer and wife, Peggy, of Meridian, Miss.; one brother, Eugene Martin and wife, Norma, of Rector; one brother-in-law, Wayne Spicer of Greenway; three grandchildren, Neal Ray Spicer of Jonesboro, Kenny Spicer of Cherry Valley, Calif., and Michelle Spicer of Mentone, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Spicer and Trevor Spicer, both of Jonesboro, and Amanda Spicer, Josiah Spicer and Samuel Spicer, all of Cherry Valley, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Henry Dortch officiating. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Roger McKenney, Max Poole, Clarence Mack, Darrell Dalton, Terry McLeskey and Darrell McCrillis.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
