Teddy Sutherland

Teddy Sutherland, 82, of Rector died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born Nov. 19, 1922, in Saddle, Ark., to the late Dewitt Sutherland and Alis (Furr) Sutherland, he was a mechanic for the Greene County Road Department, a disabled veteran of World War II, a member of Union Central Church of Christ and had lived in the community for 62 years.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Teddy D. Sutherland, on May 28, 1974; five brothers, Earnest, Loydd, Lynell, Luther and Fred Sutherland, and three sisters, Emma Yarnell, Doris Hill and Lucy Sutherland.

He was married Aug. 10, 1943, to Bonnie Evans Sutherland, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Danny Sutherland Sr. and wife Peggy of Rector; one daughter, Fayetta Baalman and husband Randall of Michael, Ill.; three sisters, Zara Jones, Carmel Perken and Patsy Tucker; 10 grandchildren, Keven Sutherland of Wisconsin, Tracey Sutherland of Warren, Jeff Sutherland of Warren, Danny Sutherland of Marmaduke, Todd Sutherland of Paragould, Joseph Boyd II of Jonesboro, Sharon Boyd Davis of O'Fallon, Mo., Carla Essman of Rector, Julie Sanders of Alton, Ill., and Scott Baalman of Cottage Hills, Ill., and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Owen Evans officiating. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery near Marmaduke with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Danny Sutherland Jr., Todd Sutherland, Joseph Boyd II, Clifton Carter, Marshall Little and Jerry Little.
