Jay Martin Williams, 43, of Newport, husband of the former Carla Dodd of Rector, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at Batesville.

He was born Aug. 19, 1961, to Cornelia Ann (Hewitt) Williams and the late Herbert H. (Woody) Williams.

He had worked at Newport Hospital as director of respiratory services for six years and currently was working at White River Medical Center as director of respiratory services and sleep aid. At one time, he was the youngest department head in Arkansas. He was a member of American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and MBRC and was on the board of respiratory therapists in Pocahontas.

He also was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roy Hewitt; grandparents Doc and Bea Koenig, and one uncle, Gene Williams.

Survivors include his wife Carla (Dodd) Williams, of Newport, formerly of Rector; his mother, Cornelia Williams of Pine Bluff; two sons, Jaxon Williams and Jettson Williams, both of Newport; two daughters, Lindsey Williams of Newport and Rimbey Williams of Vilonia, and his grandmother, Gladys Hewitt of Pine Bluff.

Funeral servsices were at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the First Baptist Church of Newport. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Dillinger Funeral Home of Newport in charge of arrangements.
