Larry N. Shelton, 56, of Vidor, Texas, formerly of Rector, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at his home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1948, in Rector to Norman and Louise Shelton. He was a self-employed Port Captain and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Sterlene Shelton of Vidor; one son, Larry Alan Shelton of Lumberton, Texas; one daughter, Amy Lynn Shelton Chesser of Vidor; his parents, Norman and Louise Shelton of Rector; one brother, Keith Shelton of Searcy; two sisters, Karen Turner of Neelyville and Dana Street of Rector, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 8) at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
