Born June 15, 1908, in Boydsville to the late John Nicley and Nancy (Nanny) Nicley, he was a farmer and tractor mechanic and of the Methodist faith. He was married Oct. 11, 1960, to Ella Lee Smith Nicley, who preceded him in death in December 1997.
He also was preceded in death by two sons, Wilbert and V.W. Nicley; one great-granddaughter, Vicky Blagg, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Nicley of Paragould; two daughters, Jo Cleta Smith and Otis Brymer of Paragould and Diane and Don Sessums of Paragould; one step-son, Richard Nunaly of Michigan; two step-daughters, Oneida Wood of Michigan and Sue Wyss of Corning, 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Rev. James Henry Dortch officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery north of Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Danny Nicley, Ronnie Nicley, Doyne Nicley, Henry Nicley, Charles Nicley and Brian Sessums. Honorary pallbearers were Ella "Marie" Scott and Christopher Scott.
