Born Oct. 1, 1916, in Greene County to the late Moses Starnes and Nancy Bell (Staires) Starnes, she was a homemaker, a member of Ramer's Chapel United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the community.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Thompson, on April 24, 1971; eight sisters, Bertha May, Arlie Brewer, Nora Arnold, Offa Bradsher, Gracie Starnes, Flossie Hampton, Vera Starnes and Ethel Starnes, and one brother, Buel Starnes.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Betty Thompson of Oak Grove; three grandsons, Stacy and Lisa Thompson of Oak Grove, Jason and Kim Thompson of Brookland and Bryan Thompson of Oak Grove; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Hobbs, Chelsey Stevens and Drew Thompson.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Ramer's Chapel United Methodist Church with Everett Isom and Dan Walker officiating. Burial was in Ramer's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Johnny Arnold, Norman Arnold, Stephen Hardin, Dewayne Boone, Glen Gibson and Donald Gibbs.
