He was born March 5, 1927, in Cash to the late William Robert Hamm and Minnie (Broadway) Hamm Priest. He was a construction worker, a veteran of the Army, a member of VFW Post 3516 in Kinghan, Ariz., and of the Baptist faith.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Hamm, James Hamm and Dalton Priest, and one sister, Aileen Jolly.
Survivors include a companion, Catherine; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dale Smith of Paragould and Lyle and Linda Hamm of Lafe; two daughters, Paula Sartain of Jonesboro and Linda Kay Hamm of Pocahontas; two brothers, Doyle Waugh of Rector and Duane Priest of Pontiac, Mich.; one sister, Patsy Hacker of Elizabeth, N.C., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Bro. Jerry Jolly officiating. Irby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
