John O. Gordon

John O. Gordon, 88, of Milan, Tenn., a native of Clay County, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at his home.

He was born June 30, 1916, in Clay County to the late Ernest Simpson Gordon and Nannie Ruth Overton Gordon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan and a member of the Wylie Brewer Sunday School Class. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include one son, Doug Gordon of Milan; one daughter, Carol Heath of Crestview, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Leianne, Lucinda, Mike and Tim McClure, John, Scott and Ryan Heath, Jason and Nathan Cross, Laura and Megan Gordon, and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Webb Gordon, and two daughters, Marilyn McClure and Linda Cross.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Bodkin Funeral Home with Dr. Ernest Pavin officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Rector Museum, 506 West Allen Drive, Rector, AR 72461.
