Veda Hardin Joiner Hobbs, 69, of Rector died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2005, at her home.

She was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Boydsville to the late William and Minnie Holifield Hardin. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Vonda Hardin Cossey Boone, and one brother, Billy Byron Hardin.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Barry Shelton of Paragould; four sons, Randy and Maxine Joiner of Southhaven, Miss., Jerry Joiner of Paragould, Shayne and Jennifer Hobbs of Conway and Nick and Barb Hobbs of Rogers; nine grandchildren, Seasons Shelton Rice, Shaylie Shelton Vines, T.J. and Ginny Joiner, Chris Sumler, Amberly and Krystal Joiner, and Corbin and Kearsten Hobbs; six great-grandchildren, Blaine and Blayre Rice, Keely Joiner, Kade Joiner, Hailey Joiner and Bridger Vines; three nephews, Bill and Sam Cossey and Kenny Boone, nine great-nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Tim Wooldridge, Sonny Childs and Ken Roden officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Bobby Tracer, Buddy Fahr, Todd Ford, Gary Shockley, Scott Shockley and Harry L. Snyder.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Heights Cemetery, Paragould Children's Home or St. Bernards Hospice.
