Born Nov. 30, 1914, in Clay County to the late John William Gibbs and Elva (Reed) Gibbs, he was a lifelong member of the community, a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Dacus) Gibbs; one brother, Porter Gibbs, and four sisters, Lottie Reece, Dollie Montgomery, Veda McAmish and Ludie Davis.
Survivors include three sisters, Dollie Wagster of Rector, Velma Sears of Cathedral City, Calif., and Eva Spain of Pocahontas.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Ken Roden officiating. Irby Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.
