He was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Lowell, Ark., the son of the late Ruby Hopper.
He was area manager for General Electric, a member of Rock Springs Methodist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.
He was married to Edna Imogene Smith on Nov. 2, 1959. She survives.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Melissa Hopper of Bartlett, Tenn.; two daughters, Karen Harris of Atoka, Tenn., and Deborah Hopper of the home; four grandchildren, Richard Harris Jr., Michelle Horton, Nichole Hopper and William Hopper; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Horton.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Rev. Larry Martineau officiating.
Irby Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.
