Donald (Slim) Taylor

Donald (Slim) Taylor, 93, of Rector died Monday, June 21, 2004, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab Center, where he resided with his wife of 73 years, Elma Mae (Morrow) Taylor.

Born Sept. 8, 1910, in the Boydsville area near Rector, Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Luther Taylor and Elizabeth (Batemen) Taylor. He lived 85 years of his life in the Rector area and 18 years, 1942-1960, in Detroit, Mich. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Elma; two sons, Donald Duran Taylor of Crossville, Tenn., and Philip Autry Taylor of Pocahontas; one daughter, Guelda Jacquline (Taylor) Valmassoi of Rector; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Taylor of Pocahontas, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Rector with George Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Irby Funeral Home.
