She was born May 26, 1914, in Monette.
Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. She had formerly been a member at the Fagus General Baptist Church before moving to Poplar Bluff. She also was a member of the Poplar Bluff Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, needlework and reading the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Payne.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Overall of Columbia, Ill.; two sons, Leland Payne of St. Louis and James Payne of Ghent, W.Va., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin with Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with White-Sanders Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
