He was born Dec. 15, 1916, in Corning to the late Levi and Mae Bounds.
He was a retired Methodist minister of over 34 years. He was a graduate of Arkansas State University and completed his seminary training at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He preached in many churches from Northwest Arkansas to Northeast Arkansas from 1948 through 1982. He retired from the First United Methodist Church in Marmaduke.
Also preceding him in death were his wife, Roefelda Bounds; one son, Don Bounds, two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mack Bounds of Monette and Allan and Denise Bounds of Jonesboro; two brothers, Shelby Bounds of Fredricksburg, Va., and Rev. Gerald Bounds of Little Rock; three sisters, Marguerite Pulliam of Jonesboro, Louise McMillan of Tallahassee, Fla., and Elsie Williams of Hillsboro, Mo., and three grandchildren, Michael, Dale and Cody Bounds.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Everett Isom officiating. Burial was in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke.
Pallbearers were Terry Sharp, Phillip Ladd, Dennis Elkins, Kevin Wimberly, Gordon Miller and John Guthright.
