Oran "Buddy" Johnson, 76, of Rector, formerly of Manila, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at his home.

Born at Manila, he was the son of the late Oran and Ethel Davis Johnson and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired carpenter and had been a longtime resident of the Rector Community.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy McCain Johnson of the home; six sons, Robert Bogard of Arlington, Texas, Matt Bogard of Rector, R.N. Johnson of Manila, Oran Johnson III of Manila, Timothy Johnson and Joe Johnson, both of Rector; three daughters, Mildred Ingram of Golaid, Texas, Patty Johnson of Paragould and Barbara Baker of Rector; a sister, Carnita Chamberlin of Schritz, Texas; 29 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Myers, and two sisters, Marie Hognested and Drucille Dill.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
