Jewell T. Duckworth, 76, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of the Rector area, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa.

He was born April 15, 1927, in Clay County to the late David and Lizzie Duckworth. He was an entrepreneur and a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lizzie (Adams) Duckworth, and two brothers, Byron Duckworth and J.D. Duckworth.

Survivors include one son, Tom Duckworth of Marble Falls, Texas; one daughter, Marlene Rausch-Burriell of Chandelor; one sister-in-law, Frances Duckworth of Rector, and two grandchildren, Keaton Duckworth and Adam Burriell.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Kenny Burns officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Dwayne Moore, Ronnie Curtis, Steve Curtis, Tom Sims, Don Caldwell and Alvie Chilcutt.
