He was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Rector, the youngest son of James and Katie Pearl McCluney. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Carl and Donald McCluney, and a granddaughter, Jill.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marcelle McCluney; six children, Betty Creswell, Sue Proctor, Pat Allevato, Bob McCluney, Cindy Peznowski and Diane Gillespie; a sister, Wilton McDonald; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and three anticipated new arrivals.
Mr. McCluney was married in 1941 to Marcelle Ellison. In 1943 he moved to Detroit and worked for General Motors. He returned in 1977 to Sherman, Texas, where he resided until his death.
He will always be remembered for his gentleness, kindness to others and his encouraging ways. He spent his life helping others. He enjoyed life and spent his time fishing, hunting, bowling and refinishing automobiles. His greatest pleasure centered around his family.
Services were Oct. 18 in Kennedale, Texas. Burial was in Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
