David Gerald Benson, 49, of Marion, formerly of Rector, died Nov. 7, 2003 in Dallas.

He was born March 4, 1954 in Paragould to Glessner and Ann Benson.

He worked 31 years in the automotive industry, working the last 10 years as an Automotive consultant for Atcon, Inc., out of Birmingham, Alab.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glessner Benson.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kirklin Benson of Marion; his mother, Ann Benson of Rector; three children, Chris and wife Amy of Jonesboro, Kirk Benson of Marion and Carla Benson of Memphis; one sister, Gloria Curtis of Marmaduke, and two grandchildren, Austin and Hanna Benson of Jonesboro.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday Nov. 13, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Rector with Roy Hargrave and Ardell Polk officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Gene Bennett, Bill Martin, Van Booth, Doyle Jones, Kelly Scobey and Bradley Linam.

Memorials may be made to the Rector Museum in care of the Rector Library.
