Charles W. Thompson

Charles W. Thompson, 67, of Marmaduke died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro.

He was born on Oct. 12, 1935, in Clay County, the son of the late Clifton and Ethel Priest Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a farmer. He coached summer baseball for many years, loved to teach waterskiing and was an active supporter of Marmaduke and Williams Baptist Athletics.

He is survived by his wife, Willyne Thompson of Marmaduke; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Tammy Thompson of Paragould; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Dave Guemmer of DeSoto, Mo., and Cindy Burns of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two sisters, Glenda Beasley of Paragould and Kay Stroud of Batesville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at the Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Henry Priest and Orville Hill officiating. Burial followed in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Active pallbearers were David Hass, John Hass, Dennis Hass, Tim Gardner, Brad Beasley, Shannon Beasley, Lance Williams and Brian Exum. Honorary pallbearers were William Edgin, Kenny Edgin, Curt Wheat, Tommy Vangilder, Donnie Reynolds, Pete Burkheart, Jimmy Hill and Dick Beggs.
